Knitting Gifts Are Perfect Every Time

Can you believe that we are halfway through the month of June already? How can that be! It seems the daffodils were just sprouting up, and the last of Winter’s snow was melting. Here we are on the very edge of a new season, Summer! June 21st just happens to be my son’s birthday, so I always know when the new season starts.

While we bask in summer’s heat and long lazy days, it’s a good idea to be thinking of those gifts we love to give to family and friends. Whether it is for Christmas, birthdays, weddings or just because, . . .  knitting gifts ARE perfect every time!

I’ve come up with a short list of knitting goodies that are perfect for newbies and experienced knitters alike. In this post, I’ll talk about actual physical products such as books and knitting must-haves; in my next post, we will explore knitting gifts that are knitted!

You may want to begin with learning how to knit, if you’ve never tried it before, and one of the best books available is titled “Teach Yourself Visually Knitting.”  In fact, if you are hoping that a daughter, grand daughter, niece or close friend will take up your beloved hobby, this book will surely point them in the right direction.

My review of Teach Yourself Visually Knitting can be found here.  We can never have enough knitting books; I’m always finding new ideas in every one I open!

Here is another knitting book that would make a perfect gift for a new knitter, Learn to Knit, Love to Knit.

One of my favorite books of all is titled Ocean Breezes: Knitted Scarves Inspired by the Sea. I live in Ocean County NJ, a mere 13 miles from the ocean, accessible through back roads, because no one around here would think of getting in the summer traffic on the main roads! Once you’re there looking at the white sand and blue water though, it is truly a treasure! Nothing compares to the seashore!

Nothing says knitting like a knitting tote. This link takes you to the Art Bin Yarn drum (I have one, too!) They are roomy and easy to take along wherever you’re going. The yarn drum holds needles, yarn, instructions, books and anything else you can think to bring along for your knitting. If you are serious  about knitting, then Art Bin is for you!

What would your knitting be without knitting needles? I’ve found a winner in Seawhisper a set of 18 different sized knitting needles. They are perfect for every project!

Bamboo needles are SO easy to knit with; I use them all the time for knitting my feather-and-fan afghans which are available in my Etsy store. They glide smoothly, just like those ocean waves!

So, that’s it for now. Be sure to think about knitting gifts for all your special times! Once you knit something and give it away, you’ll be looking to knit another as quick as you can. There is something about hand-made items, that just can’t be bought!

Because it comes from your heart!  ♥
