There’s something about September. It feels like the beginning of a new year. I guess that’s because school’s start up again. Vacations wind down. Summer begins to fade away. Days are not as long as they were in June.
Along with all of this, comes school sports. It doesn’t matter if it’s high school, or college or professional. Watching a sports event can be very exciting. In fact, the Little League World Series just finished and that is really something to see! So if you’re planning on getting out to your school’s football or soccer games, be sure to go prepared. One of the ways you can do that is by wearing your school colors.
Even though I didn’t get the chance to knit up a school scarf myself, the ideas for one are never-ending!
Choose your colors! Where I went to high school, our school colors were blue and gold. Nice! But whether they are orange and black, red and grey, navy and gold, green and white or navy and white, knitting a scarf for your favorite team is easy!
Pick your pattern! School colors can be alternated in blocks of knitting or you can knit one half in one color and the other half in the other. Choose a simple knit & purl, or do a drop-stitch design. Make your scarf as wide and as long as you like. Something to keep you warm when the sun starts to fade. Or on those afternoons that are cold and blustery. Nothing warms you up like a big, warm scarf!
Choose your yarn! There are many 2-color worsted weights available for knitting up your favorite school colors. And don’t stop with just a scarf. Make a hat, too!
Once you bring out your school colors, I’ll just bet your friends and classmates will want one too!
