Julia’s Lace Cowl

There is nothing I enjoy more than creating my own scarves. Once you have a mastery of many different stitches, it’s just a short step to combining them to make your own original designs.  When you do that, there is just no end to the versatility that comes with each new design.

Scarves, of course, come in many different styles and sizes. Trending popular this year are cowls and shorter “shawl” scarves. I think they are so pretty!

What do you think?

For this scarf, which I call Julia’s Lace Cowl (for my new grand-daughter, Julia) I used a soft Simply Soft Yarn in their Ocean color.  Most of Caron’s yarns are such rich, soft colors, that I find it hard to pick just one. That’s why scarf knitting is so much fun. With one skein or two at the most, you can create scarves in all colors to your heart’s content!

Size 8 needles
Caron’s Simply Soft yarn

My cowl was knit in two distinct pieces; then sewn together easily.
